What an evening!

Well, we ended up taking Jacob to the ER yesterday afternoon. His fever spiked up to 103 and he couldn't keep the Tylenol down. We walk in the door & he pukes all over me. Of course by the time we got into the room his temp had gone way down (his fever seemed to climb until he threw up & then would go down). But it had been 2 hrs. since he'd had the Tylenol and his fever was still so high. Until we got to the ER. The nurse was like "oh parents do that all the time. Don't give the Tylenol enough time". Did I mention he was full of...personality? (I'm being totally sarcastic) Anyway, the doctor came in and checked him over. Much to my surprise, he found very pussy tonsils. Jacob had complained of his tummy & head but never his throat. He ordered an antibiotic shot (holy smokes they used a huge needle!!!) and a script for oral antibiotics. He slept for several hours, woke up and drank some Sprite and slept the rest of the night. I woke him up twice to give him more Tylenol because I could tell his fever was climbing. He kept on sleeping. He woke up at 5am & wanted a drink. He kept it down & slept until almost 9. He's pretty well back to normal today. Not much of an appetite but otherwise, normal! Whew. I caught it as well. Lots of extra rest will help. I'm just hoping Anna doesn't catch it!

Sick Day

Jacob woke up at 7 this morning sick :( He threw up a couple times and was burning up but he went right back to sleep for a couple hours. When he woke up, his fever was 102! He kept Tylenol down for about 30 minutes before he threw up again. It must have taken though because his fever is down. So he & I are hanging out this morning watching Cars! What else?! :) Praying no one else catches whatever he's got. :(

Yucky Day

I don't feel a whole lot better today. Not much sleep last night and my stomach is actually sore from all the coughing. Hopefully by tomorrow I'll be lots better. Should be after all the medicine they've given me!

This is how I felt today...maybe that's why Anna was making this face! I sure hope I can get more sleep tonight. She was actually playing, "getting" me when I snapped this.
She's been having fun snapping her own "pictures". And she won't take it until you say cheese! (I have no idea where she gets that!!)

After supper Jacob decided he wanted to walk back & forth between Daddy & me. He's starting to walk more and more. I think he's finally discovering that it's a little easier on his knees if he walks!! IT'S ABOUT TIME, BOY!

And yes, his diaper was very wet! Sagging clear to his knees!! haha It was funny.

Even though he knows how to pull the chairs out, I don't know how many times he does this EVERY day. Man, does he get mad, too. He won't crawl back down. He just lays there, knocking his head on the table yelling. It's like he's saying "MOM! Get over here and rescue me, for pete's sake!"

They have their moments...some better than others. Jacob was barely tolerating Anna using his head as a resting place for her wand. His face is hilarious. *sigh* The things I put up with from this sister of mine!

This is a good moment:) She can make him laugh so easily! He loves watching her run around and be wild, tickle him, etc.

And this face. Oh that just makes me tired! He is so ornery!!!!!!!!!

I sure do love him, though! What a joy he is:)

Mama said...

...there'd be days like this. Oy! What a day it's been. Grandpa & Grandma were visiting and they left just in time! Jacob woke up at 5am and took forEVER to go back to sleep. Then Anna woke up puking. I've cleaned up more puke today than I want to think about. I've cleaned up more poop today than I want to think about. I've been puked on AND pooped on. IT'S NOT BEEN A FUN DAY. For any of us. Anna finally turned the puking corner a little after noon. She was so thirsty and hungry I had a hard time convincing her to take it slow. I don't know what Jacob's got--I don't think he's sick. Probably just his eye teeth coming in. Mercy! Does he ever have some N.A.S.T.Y. gas and diapers. I about gagged one time--and that's saying a lot!
But, when he wakes up like this...it makes the day a little better.

She is so sapped of all her energy. Poor girl:(

I spoke too soon. Anna just puked all over the house. I wasn't fast enough with a trash can or to get her to the bathroom. So she's in the tub and Jacob is still in his crib--eating a roll of paper towels. Seriously. I can't let him out b/c I've got carpet cleaner sprayed all over the carpets. And he was starting to scream about being left alone...what's a girl to do?!
Poor Anna. She just keeps telling me "I'm not sick anymore Mama!"
I'm tired. And I should probably go take the paper towel roll away from Jacob. Aaron...are you home yet???????

Muffins, tea parties, and driving

We had a visit from Grandpa & Grandma last week! Anna had a lot of fun having tea parties with her three tea sets (yes, she really does have 3 tea sets!!)

Yet another picture to prove that tongue biting really IS in the genes!

Evidently making blue berry muffins is serious work! :)

While I reinstalled the car seats, the kids played "drive the van". Jacob's not a big fan of the horn!

I can't believe they're actually letting me play with this thing that has such BIG wheels!!!

Yesterday it rained ALL DAY LONG. When Anna and I came home from the store, she saw a rainbow. She was sooooooo excited!! So we ran inside (okay, she ran I walked) and told Daddy. Then she kept running to the back door to look at it again. One time she yelled "It's GROWING!!!" She was right--at one point we could see all the colors!

Not a great picture of it, but a picture of it none-the-less!

He's decided to start "cruising" again! Yippeee! And now he'll even walk on the wood floors. I really hope he starts walking on his own VERY SOON!

This is an early birthday present for me :) This cabinet was returned or something, so Aaron got it very cheap. It's my new scrapbooking cabinet!!! The drawers are really long and there's quite a bit of space between the drawers, so I can fit a LOT in there. And actually, the top of it is big enough that I could scrapbook on there (at least put my pages together--there's not enough room to have everything out on there). One of these days I WILL have a craft room for my scrapbooking and sewing machine! And when that day comes, I'll have a great cabinet for the room :)

We also had Bruce and Shirley visit this weekend for a big party (Ben got engaged!!). Aaron got the genius idea to go to the football game IN OKLAHOMA...after a night of precious little sleep. I think that's why I agreed to go--b/c I was so sleep deprived. We skipped out on the pumpkin patch b/c I knew the kids would have melt downs half way thru things. I figured since we had a 3 hr. drive down to the game, they would probably sleep most of the way. Oh no. Jacob slept for maybe an hour total. Anna didn't sleep at all. They were pretty good. But then we got to the game and it was HOT and WINDY and the sun was BLAZING. I was not prepared for that weather! And of course, there was NO shade for most of the game. 2nd half there was a teeny bit of shade, so we claimed it. I had to run to the store and get sunscreen (a rip off b/c the only store I could find was a gas station). Naturally by the time I got back, the kids were both asleep and didn't need it!! And to top it all off, we lost big time :( But it was fun riding with the Swiharts! :) We even managed to keep the kids awake all the way home (Anyone want to sing Zaccheus or hot dogs?!?)!

I also found out why Anna hasn't been sleeping at night-she's got tonsillitis, probably strep! She NEVER complained about her throat hurting, so I had no idea. But they both had nasty coughs that just weren't going away. Jacob's throat was okay, but I have no doubt that he'll end up with it too. At least the medicine tastes good for it! So we're laying low and Mama is trying to function on this little sleep :(

PS-Thanks Jenn for posting that song. I have more to post about that Bible study, but that will have to wait for later when the kids are in bed and I don't get interrupted a million times :)

Randomness & pictures of course! (updated)

  • I'm really glad Jacob isn't sick anymore. He's never really been sick before and I don't like it. He had Roseola--scary high fevers, then a rash. Which means he didn't sleep, he was fussy and clingy all day and the high fevers made him throw up. The poor guy was miserable. Let's just say the laundry was piled high and the house was a disaster for 6 days!
  • Anna acts a lot like my hyper brother...it's a little scary! ;)
  • Jacob really does need a haircut (see picture below of the mullet!)
  • I'm really just procrastinating cleaning up the house. And b/c I'm procrastinating, I'm missing out on getting some sleep--why am I so dumb?!
  • I'm not liking my haircut anymore. My hair has gotten worse after each kid--it used to be so blonde and smooth and nice. Now it's not really blonde and it's not really brown with a little bit of red mixed in. And it's frizzy and just wavy enough to be annoying but not cute. Blah.
  • We're looking at laptops (and going wireless--for my online work I do it will be so much easier)...I'm really sick of comparing prices and features--half of which I don't have a clue what they mean! Dad--you do it! :D
  • My daughter is a hoot. And she'll tell you that. She really is, too. I love her. She makes me smile :) See? She's making me smile and she's not even awake!
  • My son is very ornery...already.
  • Hmmm...I think that's enough randomness for now. I really need to clean up and go to bed. Gracious. But the pictures first..........

They had so much fun watching Daddy mow! Jacob was completely enthralled with the mower.
Anna was doing a cheer for Daddy...this is the millisecond that she sat still enough for a picture.

The mullet. It's so cute though b/c it's getting curly again! But no mullets in this house! Haircut--soon!!! And how about that chub?! I love, love, love it!

Oy. She had a giant sucker at the college football game Saturday. It was windy and she was with Daddy for the 2nd half--bad combo! *meaning Daddies don't understand that wind + long hair = a mess; wind + long hair + sticky sucker = rat's nest!* Look at her hair! She wanted it washed off...NOW!

She is having more fun with the John Deere than Jacob is...for now. Our house is old. And nothing is level. The kitchen slopes to the east, so she would roll down to me and I would push her back. She loved it. Would've done it all day too! So I guess there are pros to having non-level floors! :)

We had a full house for Sunday dinner, so Aaron brought this little table in for Anna & him to eat on. It's still here (there's not enough room, but aren't they so cute eating there?!?). Jacob continually tried to steal Anna's bowl of cereal...and he had lots of opportunity b/c she was all over the map this morning.

They're just too cute:)

Morning 'toons, sharing some Cheerios. Yesterday morning we were all three snuggled up there!
