Craziness

You'd think I would've learned by now that I can't turn my back on this stinker for any amount of time! I was at the desk and Anna says "Mommy, what's that noise? It sounds like something is talking." I heard something faintly. Anna looked out to the living room and said "Oh Jacob is playing on the computer." I assumed she meant HIS laptop.........

Uhhh...wrong-o!
The TURKEY! He somehow got DORA to play!! Good grief.

The really crazy thing is that our basement/cellar flooded last night. We got a TON of rain yesterday. Aaron woke up this morning and took an incredibly cold shower and went down to check out the hot water heater. And he found at least a foot of water down there. So he went and got a pump and came back and started pumping. Lucky for me, Addie was still at the college (graduation was Saturday) so after helping her load up, I took a shower up there. After over 6 hours of pumping, it's down about halfway. So I took the kids over to Kim's for baths tonight (thanks Kim!!). And luckily, Seth is still at the college tonight so Aaron can get a shower up there tonight. Hopefully by morning, it will be all pumped out and when Aaron gets home tomorrow he can re-light the pilot on the hot water heater! Whew. Hopefully it doesn't get too cold tonight since we have the furnace off, too! (It won't...even with all the rain and cooler weather, it's plenty warm in here).

You can see on the bricks back there how high the water was!

And on the pole you can see it, too.

Jacob & Dora

Jacob absolutely loves Dora. Has since he was old enough to watch cartoons. And Anna has plenty of Dora toys for him to enjoy. Here you can see just how much he enjoys Dora (it's not 'til the end--he's watching a story on a projector)...:)

Yummy, fresh garden salsa!

What's better than some yummy, homemade, fresh garden salsa??? I'll tell ya what--nothing! :) My friend Kim invited me over to make salsa today since I had SO MANY tomatoes. Here is the wonderful result. It is so good. Aaron is going to be in hog heaven when he gets home. I'm betting there won't be any salsa left by the time we leave tomorrow afternoon...In the big jar, I used green onions (from my garden), red onion, garlic, cilantro, a little salt and a little lime juice. In the small jar, I didn't use the green onions (b/c they are all in the big jar!). It is sooo good! There's no recipe, she just throws it in and tastes it. It's super easy. No canning or cooking, just a lot of chopping. So thanks Kim! I had fun and we'll be enjoying some chips & salsa tonight! :)

*****************************************************************

Anna found this little baby carrier yesterday amongst her millions of toys. I picked it up at a garage sale long ago. She was having so much fun carrying her little baby around :)

This is how our mornings go...Anna wakes up and comes to my bed. Sometimes she goes back to sleep, sometimes we cuddle and watch 'toons. She's told me over and over that cuddling in Mommy's bed is her favorite thing to do! :) Well, yesterday morning was no different. As I was trying to get Jacob down for a nap, she comes in and insists on getting her pillow and blanket (Joyce, if you're reading this-she refuses to sleep with any other blanket! Never mind that it's a million degrees outside! She'd rather get hot and sweaty than sleep with a different blanket!!) Anywho. I fail at getting Jacob asleep and walk by and see this...

She evidently wasn't satisfied with the quality of the pillows and blankets already on the bed...she had to have her own! What a kid.

And Jacob...the boy is in love with Dora! Jamie & Cassie got Anna this awesome little Dora "movie" player for Christmas. It's like a projector. He will sit there and watch that little movie over and over and over. He gets really excited when it turns on, and then he just sits really still and watches. It's very cute and quite humorous!

Oh yes...the other day we were at the store when the lady in front of us starts talking to the kids. She was w/ her 3 grandkids. She guessed Anna was about 3 (to which Anna said Yes!) and then she looked at Jacob and said "And I bet you're not quite 2." I kind of laughed and said "Actually, he not quite 1!" Ha! The kid is still growing at a ridiculous rate, I'm afraid.

Maybe I'm crazy...

Well, maybe I'm crazy...2 nights ago was a HORRIBLE night for both kids sleeping-wise. They were both awake numerous times (I think they just kept waking each other up). Anyway, last night I told Anna that if she slept all night long and stayed in her bed and didn't throw a fit about going to bed, that she could sleep in her tent tonight. She's been asking to sleep in it all week. Lo and behold, she slept all night last night! So tonight, she'll be sleeping in her Dora tent on her Dora couch with her Dora spinning globe light (do ya think she likes Dora???). She was sooooooo excited! We got it all set up before I put Jacob to bed (okay, so he's still not in bed either--he got just as excited as Anna did! ha) and she crawled in there and just went on and on about how great it was going to be to sleep in her tent. "Mama, dis is just amazing!" HA! The kid's a riot.

On another note, I've been meaning to post about this and keep forgetting (mostly b/c I never did get any pictures of her at VBS earlier this month). She learned her first Bible verse! It blesses me clear to my soul to hear my precious 3 year old recite a verse! It's Genesis 1:1 and she says it perfectly (and still does!). The cutest thing is that when she says the reference, she says "Genesis 1 by 1"! Too cute! Okay, that's all for now. We gotta get these kids in bed so Mommy & Daddy can watch a movie and go to bed (if we don't fall asleep during the movie! We're so old)! I've got some really cute pics of Anna and her new friends from the wedding we went to tonight. I'll post them tomorrow (maybe...).

Fun Times

Well, it was still hot today but it was also windy so it was slightly bearable:) Anna and Jacob played really well together today (they really do most days but recently she's been irritating him more often which results in a lot of screaming). Anyway, they were being pretty quiet, so I went in to check on them and this is how I found them...
Anna was lounging on the Dora couch with her food and drink and Jacob was "talking" to Dora and Boots.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I should have put the pool up a lot sooner, even though it's super hot...Anna loves it! And it gets us out of the house while Jacob's napping and he napped really good today. Go figure. After supper Daddy and Anna played while I cleaned up the kitchen and Jacob played in his exersaucer. Daddy was making waves and they moved Anna around, which she thought was the best!
