And the Winner Is.....

At the end of September, Scott was in another "Extreme Mustang Makeover" competition in Nebraska. He got first place!!

Praying before he competes.

We're so proud of you Scott! And it's so great to see how God is using him and his passions to glorify His kingdom!

Pumpkin Time!

I got a couple of pumpkins a while back, but instead of carving them (too messy and I do all the work anyway!), I decided to let them paint! I had to laugh at how differently Anna and Jacob went about painting their pumpkins...

Jacob went to town with the paint. He mixed the colors together right away. Then he just started slapping it on. He had a blast!

And then there's Anna. She had to have a cup of water so her colors didn't mix. She sat and thought about what she wanted to paint on her pumpkin. Then she set about meticulously painting her pumpkin.

And they're both works of art in this Mama's opinion! :)

He's a John Deere Man

The college's homecoming parade was a huge success this year! It was the biggest I've seen in the 10+ years I've been going. Jacob heard there were going to be tractors so he couldn't wait! Of course, he had to wear his John Deere hat...

Is dat a trater?!

Ohhh...wha dat?!

I tink a trater...

A better view from Daddy's shoulders!

The best view of all! Jacob was a huge hit with all the farmers as they rode by. They all loved his hat :)

Hmmmm...dat not John Deewe. But still...trater.

Getting Closer!

We got my bedroom cleaned today & got the baby's bed all set up! We don't have enough room to put the crib up (or enough room in the other bedroom for the baby!) So we're going to use a Pack'n'Play in our room as long as we can. This one has a ton of storage so I can put some of his clothes in there & not have to worry about waking the other 2 in the middle of the night for extra pj's or diapers. We still have a few things to get, but for the most part everything is ready!

36 weeks

I had my 36 week appointment today. I was measuring 3 weeks behind (again), so she ordered a sonogram. Thankfully, they were able to get me in this afternoon so I didn't have to make another trip to Wichita. The doctor was concerned because of my history of low amniotic fluid (that's why Anna was 3 weeks early). Baby was laying transverse (side-to-side across my stomach) so I think that might have caused the measurement to be a little off. Anyway, we headed for the sonogram after lunch. The tech was the friendliest I've had yet. She said the fluid level was great. She gave us some other news...he's a BIG baby. Already. Goodness gracious. His head measures at 40 weeks (90th percentile), his foot is about 3" long already (that's almost half the size of Jacob's foot right now!!!!) and he weighs about 7.5 lbs!!! She said the weight could be off by a pound, but she really doubted it at this point. This kid still has 2.5 weeks to cook!! Oh my stars. How am I having such big babies?! My brothers and I, we were all under 8 lbs. 3 weeks early, Anna was almost 7lbs. 1 week early Jacob was an ounce shy of 9lbs. Who wants to make a guess at how much this guy is going to weigh?! I'm too scared! At least it'll be a c-section (his head size might have changed that anyway!).

Too Bad We Have to Sit

Aaron cleaned the living room carpet & I washed the baseboards & wiped down the walls today (nesting anyone??). The kids think it's great fun to run around the empty living room. It's too bad we have to sit because an empty room could keep them entertained for hours...not to mention wear them out!!
I tend to want big projects done as part of my nesting. Last time I helped Aaron put in a cedar ceiling in the bathroom & I painted the kids' room. Oh yes, and Aaron & his folks put in the wood floors right before he was born, too. We moved less than a week before Anna was born (she was three weeks early). This time I wanted to redo the bathroom (tile the floor, new vanity, new fixtures) but finances just didn't work out for that yet. So we cleaned carpets instead! I'm exhausted and Aaron's the one who moved all the furniture & cleaned the carpets!!! By morning we should be able to put everything back & then I can scrub down the kitchen. 3 weeks and counting! :)

Me: What is what?
Jacob: What eee dat???!!!
Me: What?!
Jacob: What eee dat, Mama?!
Me: What is what, Jacob??!!
Jacob: What eee dat?!?!
Me: (looking for what he could be talking about & not seeing anything) Do you hear something?
Jacob: Yeah.
Me: It's a truck outside.
Jacob: Oh.

No Way Joses!!!

It's always a gamble if Aaron drops by during the day-how will Jacob react? Will he be happy to see him & no big deal when he leaves after just a few minutes? Or will he have a meltdown because he really misses Daddy? Today...well today the picture says it all.

Still No Pictures

The good news? Aaron is HOME and feeling so much better!!!! He's still pretty worn out from the whole ordeal (and driving 8 hrs. home), but he's here...in our house...in our bed...with US! Can you tell I'm happy about that?! The kids are so glad he's home, too. Last night, he went out to get something out of the car and when he came back in, Anna looked up kind of startled. She said (with a giggle) "I forgot Daddy was here!" Thanks for praying for him!
The bad news? My computer is still in the shop. And the other bad news (at least for the computer guy)? When I asked Dad if it was fixed he replied "Not happy...we will have words when I get back" Rut-roh Mr. Computer Man. "will have words" doesn't translate into good for you! :)

The Things He Says

I think my 3 year old just put me in time out (or tried to, anyway)! He asked me to turn a movie on for him & I said no. To which he replied "You obey Mama!!!" I about choked on my lunch. And then he followed that up with "Go to woom (room)! You obey!"
Oh me oh my.

In the Shop

Well, my computer is in the shop again...thus the lack of posting and pictures. I know you've all been on the edge of your seats waiting. ;) Hopefully I'll have it back this weekend.
Also, if you could please pray for Aaron. He left again on a recruiting trip that was only supposed to be 2 days. Except he got really sick and ended up in the hospital twice to get IV fluids and medicine. He was supposed to come home yesterday but got sick Tuesday night into Wednesday and then again last night/this morning. Thankfully he planned to stay with his aunt & uncle this trip anyway, so he's in good hands and not at some hotel. But we miss Daddy and want him home. And we're so sad that he's so sick! Thanks for praying for him, and all of us.

The Things He says

I say "oh beans!" A lot. (Thanks Dad) Last night Jacob was getting his pajamas on & he said something about the pants hurting his leg. I said "ohhh..." And he finished for me "deeeens!!!!". It was the hilarious. I really need to write down more of the stuff he says because the clearer he talks, the funnier he gets. The boy's got a sense of humor!
